Sobre los proyectos<\/strong><\/p>

Escuela P\u00fablica Informal<\/strong><\/p>

\u201cRealizar mi primer proyecto de arte en la ciudad donde nac\u00ed tiene un significado muy especial para mi. A trav\u00e9s de esta residencia quiero establecer las posibles conexiones que existen entre la geograf\u00eda y el individuo, entre la identidad y la identificaci\u00f3n, y entre la legalidad y la clandestinidad de vivir fuera de lo que uno considera \u201cla patria\u201d.<\/em><\/span><\/p>

Durante su residencia en Zona Imaginaria, Canonge realiz\u00f3 intervenciones p\u00fablicas de acci\u00f3n social,\u00a0“Escuela P\u00fablica Informal (EPI)”<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0donde trabajo con residentes de San Fernando para rescatar la historia del pa\u00eds donde naci\u00f3 en un intercambio cultural, art\u00edstico y comunitario.<\/p>

Adem\u00e1s intervino el espacio de la residencia con la creaci\u00f3n de banderas que llevaban el sol argentino\u00a0\u201cEl color de mi bandera\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>

Durante su estad\u00eda en Zona Imaginaria, Canonge realiz\u00f3 varias performances una de ellas el 12 de Octubre llamada\u00a0\u201cDES \u2013 cubrimiento\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0frente a la estatua de Cristobal Col\u00f3n en la Casa Rosada en Capital Federal y otra para el proyecto Dystorpia de Fluid, Nueva York, en live-stream desde Zona.<\/p>

About the project \u00b7 Informal Public School<\/strong><\/p>

I find myself in front of the statue of Christopher Colom- bus. I\u2019m wearing a white tunic I brought from the Bolivian Amazon region and I\u2019m blindfolded. I remain still, waiting for the reaction of passers-by and of those participating in my action. Beside me, there is a recipient with red ink and a slender jute cord, waiting to be used by people to tie me up. I wait. I don\u2019t know how much time has gone by, but su- ddenly, I feel my body being cut into pieces due to the for- ce they have begun to use, tugging and binding me. While they are at it, the cord gets wet, dying my tunic red. I don\u2019t see my body, but I do realize that there must be people all around. The strength with which they pull on the cord that entwines me varies from one to the next. I can feel it on my torso, my legs and even my head. When I feel like they can\u2019t pull any tighter, I begin to cut the hard cord with a small kni- fe. It\u2019s an arduous task, and it takes some time. I fight to free myself and I hurt myself trying. I finally manage to break free from the cord and proceed to take off the blindfold. I open my eyes; the Southern sun is strong and indicates midday. I look and point to the statue of Columbus for a long time. Slowly, I lower my hand. I begin to recognize the territory, the hidden times of colonization and I attack the processes of harassment in the presence of the so-called \u2018discoverer of the New World\u2019. I finish my action and leave, my body marked by time.<\/span><\/p>

H\u00e9ctor Canonge. <\/span><\/strong>Vive en Estados Unidos donde estudi\u00f3 Literatura Comparativa y Cinematograf\u00eda. Hizo un posgrado en Integrated Media Arts y se desempe\u00f1a como docente en la Facultad de Electronic Media Design, Universidad de City University of New York. Es artista interdisciplinario cuya obra integra nuevas tecnolog\u00edas con narrativas visuales, cinematogr\u00e1ficas y perform\u00e1ticas de propiedades interactivas para explorar temas de identidad, g\u00e9nero, migraci\u00f3n y de la geograf\u00eda.\u00a0 Canonge se desempe\u00f1a tambi\u00e9n como curador, educador y promotor de exposiciones de arte, programas de cine y de arte performance.\u00a0 Sus proyectos y obras han sido presentadas en notables exposiciones en museos, galer\u00edas, y espacios de arte en los Estados Unidos, Europa y Asia.
